Thank you for booking with the Palapa House!
We look forward to having you stay with us. The Palapa House location is fantastic for walking to great restaurants, bars and just a five minute walk down the beach to downtown San Pedro!
Traveling to a foreign country can be confusing and overwhelming at times so the information below is just to give you some logistics about how things work in Belize.
TRAVELLING TO SAN PEDRO:
Once landed in Belize City, there are 2 options for travel to the Island.
OPTION 1: Flight (15 min)
We recommend Tropic Air, which will take you directly from Phillip Goldson International Airport BZE – Tropic Air Airport in San Pedro. Please allow AT LEAST one hour from the time you land until your next flight. You can book your flight in advance on-line to coincide with your international flight, please visit www.tropicair.com. Or better yet, Shane – our property manager is an agent for Tropic Air so he can book your flights for you at no additional charge. **(Fill out information below)**
IMPORTANT: While you are at the airport in Belize City, pick up some alcohol. It is VERY expensive on the island.
OPTION #2: Water Taxi (2-3 hours)
The most economical option is the water taxi. To do this you would take a taxi from the airport (approx. 30 minutes – should be around $25.00 USD depending on size of group and amount of luggage) to the water taxi dock and hop on board. The water taxi information and updated departure times can be found at www.belizewatertaxi.com.
ONCE ARRIVED IN SAN PEDRO:
Shane Pohlke is our property manager. He DOES NOT live on site so it is important that you contact him 2 days BEFORE YOU TRAVEL with your estimated arrival time at the property. Please go to the property directly from the airport.

**If your arrival time changes, please let them know so that they can adjust and be there to let you in. An iMessage to spohlke@gmail.com works the best on the island or call the local phone number.
If you are taking a taxi, tell the driver you are going to “the new place across from Chuck and Robbie’s dive shop” in Boca Del Rio. Everyone knows where that is.

GOLF CARTS
While lots of things are within walking distance, golf Carts are the main form of transportation on the island, if you are planning on renting a golf cart, we recommend calling Mr. Simon at 011-501-615-5211. https://www.mkgolfcartrental.com/ He has several companies that rent golf carts and does the best job of maintaining his carts. Mention Palapa House to get a 20% discount. They will meet you at the airport and drop off the cart. They will take you to The Palapa House if you have lots of luggage.

Important Tips:
· American Dollars work great in Belize! The exchange rate is 2 to 1. Most prices are listed in BZ $$ so everything is half of that in US $. If you pay with US $$, you will most likely receive your change in BZ $$.
· Tap water is “safe”, as in it’s treated, but heavily chlorinated = tastes bad. Stock up on water at the grocery store for drinking, coffee etc (stores within close walking distance)
*** Please remember you are in a third world country! There may be power and water outages and other things that are beyond our control. We want every guest to have a five star experience. We strive for perfection but mechanical and electrical devices are not always perfect so please let us know ASAP if you have a problem so we can fix it! Shane will be your best friend while you are there.
